Recent Floor Speeches from the Bush Years

Dear Friends:

A Member of Congress has a responsibility to listen, to debate, to raise questions, and to vote his or her conscience.

This collection of speeches is a reminder of just some of the issues we have dealt with during the Bush years.

It was important to me to speak out on these issues, to challenge the Bush Administration at every opportunity, and to advance the progressive agenda.

Oftentimes those of us who speak out find ourselves alone because we have stood fast to our ideals and not bent and diluted our principles.

I thank you for the support you have given me and for the privilege of speaking out for you in the Congress.
